Words from ...NOV 2009 NLE Board Topnotcher No. 9 Ms Garlene Rebollos

i am so proud of this lady... so simple... yet there's a lot more one can see from her... and i wish to share her message for the new batch of RNs of MERGE...

There is nothing which can circumvent determined and diligent MERGE babies seeking for success and truth. We are part of this splendid universe and we are here to get the best out of this phase of life.

I salute and congratulate my fellow newly Registered Nurses for we are now in the threshold of our dreams. We have now the key, and how to use it to unlock the door of opportunities waiting ahead rests individually on each one of us. Our parents are full of expectations, our country awaits us, and the world eagerly awaits us to sample the skills our individual Alma Mater had taught us in four years time. This time we open our eyes to the realities confronting us and direct our affairs from the context of the present by harnessing our hopes and plans to improve our life today and tomorrow.

Let’s learn to be realistic for we are faced with a situation, not just a theory. Much as we would like to acknowledge, we are inextricably tied up with problems of survival in this highly competitive world. In other words, the fundamental things in life by which we had been onlookers or passive participants in the past, we now face squarely. This period is a test, how to pass the painful effort of transition and development remains to be seen. So change we must. We cannot tear ourselves apart from the reality of changes that surround us. Otherwise how else do we improve if we do not change? We change our attitude, our vision, our awareness and ways of doing things.

My dear nurses, the great future with all its enigma lies ahead of us and we are on a decisive struggle to stand on our two feet to prove to the world that we are a contributing factor to make society a better world to everybody. Let us try to lead, or at least initiate an action. Together let us tread the path and explore its mystery with greater confidence.

The world remains mysterious. Perhaps, it is lettered with potholes or the ascent may be steep and laborious. But rest assured, that we can say to ourselves that our efforts were not in vain because it made a difference. The difference is the thing that really matters.

Congratulations!
